5 Unique Vintage Gifts to Get Your Kids

Whether you’re looking for gifts to buy your children for Christmas, their birthday, or some other holiday, finding the right gifts can be tricky. Not all kids like the same things, and there’s so much variety on the market regarding the toys that you have to choose from. Instead of buying your kids the popular, technological toys that seem to be diversified on the market, you should think about getting them more unique gifts.

Here are five of the best unique and vintage gifts that you should consider giving your children. Each of them is catered to children of all ages, and they can even help to spark their imagination. You don’t have to purchase all of them, but reviewing them and considering a few may help you during your buying process.

1. View-Master

Even keeping adults entertained, the View-Master is classified as a small, compact device that lets you insert a ring of images in order to view them like you would binoculars. With the View-Master, there are essentially stereoscopes that have rings of images in a circular shape. The images range anywhere from space to nature or animals. The device comes with a few different rings of images that you can interchange and view through the binocular-like device.

The images aren’t simply drawn, painted, or pictured. But they feature a 3D quality. That being said, you can see more detail and it allows your kids to imagine more accurately what different environments are like since the images look real.

2. Transformers

Another great vintage gift that you should consider giving your kids is Transformers. Transformers are technically supercars that have the ability to transform into human-like robots. These toys are based on the movie series of “Transformers,” and they’ve been widely popular since the ’80s.

Given their mechanical nature, Transformer toys entice kids’ imagination and encourage them to figure out how mechanics work together. And the fact that the toys transform into cars encourages kids to play with them even more. You can look into buying vintage transformers from a variety of places, but make sure that the vender is experienced and sells high-quality products.

3. Lite-Brite

Most of you have probably had these when you were younger, as they’re extremely fun to play with and simple to do. With the Lite-Brite, your kids can choose between certain colored pegs to place within a black background with holes. As you place the colored-pegs into the holes, you start to create a picture.

And when you’re all finished with the picture, you can light up the background, causing the colored-pegs to create a colored picture. The toy has been around for decades now, and there are even newer versions of it frequently being released due to the toy’s success.

4. Lincoln Logs

Perhaps one of the most popular types of vintage toys on the market is Lincoln Logs. Not only are they likely the oldest toy that you’ve played with, but they can provide hours of entertainment. With Lincoln Logs, you can build practically any construction design, most commonly a log cabin. The logs are specifically designed so that they can stick together, so you don’t have to worry about log pieces rolling everywhere. And your kids can either use their imagination or the instructions included to create their own masterpiece.

5. Spirograph

A Spirograph is used as a drawing tool that can create equal shapes and designs. It’s essentially a drawing tool that can create more calculative designs that are used in hypnotic mandala styles. You can find Spirographs in a variety of different designs, shapes, and sizes, and they’re even made from different colors as well.

Given their mathematical nature, Spirographs are able to help kids gain hand-eye coordination while also keeping them focused. They’re even fun to use with your kids, so you can create fun little drawing designs with your children by gifting them a Spirograph.

Overall, finding the right kinds of gifts for your children can be difficult. Yes, they all give lists of things that they want, but then they all know what they’re getting and the fun is removed. By purchasing your children some unique and vintage gifts, you can not only increase their creativity and imagination, but you can also bring back a piece of your childhood as well.
