3 Cleaning Tips to Keep Your Employees Healthy

Your employees are your most valued assets. The moment you see several requests for sick leaves, then you’ll know something isn’t right. It could be because they are working in an unhealthy condition. If you keep the workplace clean, you’ll reduce the health issues and eliminate the need for several sick leaves. This is turn will boost their morale and increase their productivity.

Keeping the workplace neat requires concerted effort, but whatever the energy you put into it will pay in the long run. Here are three cleaning tips to keep your employees motivated and healthy.

Come Up with A Cleaning Routine

Cleaning is just as important as any other business operation, so it must be granted the priority it deserves. Come up with a cleaning routine that your employees can follow. This will ensure the workplace remains tidy daily.

The cleaning program should include what needs to be done daily and weekly. You also need to carry out thorough cleaning once a month. The daily tasks can be simple to avoid wasting time. They can include wiping the counters and tables, dusting computer keyboards and monitors, cleaning the floors, and emptying the dust bin.

The weekly tasks can be a little involving, like cleaning the appliances, cleaning the kitchen, and emptying the refrigerator. The monthly activities can be more involving and may include fumigation.

The Floors and The Furniture

Floors should be given so much attention because they become dirty so easily. Whenever someone walks in, they bring some dust and dirt. Food particles fall on the floor and drinks also spill on the floors, this is in addition to pieces of paper, grease, and grime that also find their ways onto the floor.

If you have a carpet on your floor, then it will be necessary to vacuum it regularly. For hard floors, regular mopping will be necessary. The dust that settles on the carpet or the hard floor is a health hazard because it can act as a medium for transmitting diseases. It can also a big issue if you have an employee allergic to dust.

Once you are done with the floors, you can move to the furniture and other office equipment. Your employees get into contact with chairs, desks, computers, tables, benches, etc, daily. In interacting with this hardware, a sick employee can easily infect others. That’s why these hardware needs to be sanitized daily. For non-electronic equipment, you can use water, soap, and hydrogen peroxide for cleaning. You can also consider installing an EvaClean System for sanitation and disinfection.

The electronic devices have special fluids used to clean them. Find out from the labels or the manufacturers. Thorough cleaning will leave your office hardware germ-free, fresh, and welcoming.

Discourage Food Consumption in The Offices

On matters that touch on food, you need to come up with a stringent policy to guide your employees on how they can conduct themselves. Some employees have the habit of carrying snacks and juices and eating them in the office.

Whenever this happens, you’ll most probably find food particles on the tables and the floor. You’ll also see coffee or juice spills on the tabletops. All these messes create a perfect breeding ground for disease-causing vectors. For this reason, you need to create a specific place where your employees can eat. Having a dining area or a breakroom is the best way to control mice, ants, and other unwelcome creatures.

Even in the dining area, you’ll notice some stains left on the table. Some of these stains can be very stubborn and may be difficult to remove without defacing the tabletops. In this case, you can use mayonnaise. Just apply mayonnaise on the affected area, and let it rest for about 10 minutes, then wipe it away gently.

Office cleaning is a tedious exercise but there is no shortcut to it. If you want your employees to remain healthy, you must ensure they work in a clean environment. Having an office cleaner may not be enough. You can hire an office cleaning company once every month to carry out the thorough cleaning and disinfection of your offices. Also, remember to improve the quality of air in your offices. You can invest in air purifiers or office flowers to make the workplace breathable.
